Every Major Offered at BYU Has Courses Specific to That Major


Each major or major emphasis publishes a "Major Academic Plan" or MAP listing the requirements that students need to fulfill to be accepted into a major (if applicable) and to graduate from that major. In addition to graduation requirements, MAPs contain information regarding the nature of the discipline (what you will be studying) and information about career possibilities related to the major. Looking at MAPs can give you ideas for courses you can take to explore majors and minors you know you are interested in.

The MAPs are updated yearly; however, students must complete the requirements on the MAP of the year you entered the major.
